Have a question? Try asking one of our Experts

We raise calves in one barn and then move them to another when weaned. We have no problems raising them until they are moved into the new facility. After about two weeks, they seem to develop some kind of BVR and die rapidly. They have all been vaccinated and given other injections prior to moving. Any help on feed or vaccinations would be appreciated. There are approximately 1,000 calves in our new barn.

You have a big problem and will not like the answer. Do not put the calves in the second barn until you can break the disease cycle. We do not think it is nutrition related. If it was coccidosis, the calves would develop loose stools and rough hair coats, and blood may appear in the feces. You need some veterinarian intervention or a vet diagnostic lab involvement.
