Do not feed high-moisture corn in a calf starter as it often heats and gets moldy. A good quality calf starter should be fed from three days old until they are weaned and consuming about 2 pounds per day. Continue feeding the calf starter ration through the transition phase (usually from weaning to 2 1/2 months of age) before starting with a grower ration. You can begin using high-moisture corn in the grower ration after the calf age has reached three months. Be watchful that the grain is consumed daily and does not heat up because of overfeeding or poor consumption.
