Dairy-L is a "virtual community" of dairy production professionals who communicate by e-mail. An archive of their messages is on an Internet site that you can use to search problems or make contact with dairy producers throughout the world. There are Dairy-L subscribers from more than 45 countries. This site also has numerous industry and academic personnel online. The purpose of Dairy-L is to exchange dairy-related information via questions, answers, and comments.
You can subscribe on the Web or by sending an e-mail message. To subscribe by the Web, go to the following URL: https://listserv.umd.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=dairy-l&A=1
Fill in your e-mail address and name, then click on the "Join Dairy-L" button. An e-mail will be sent to the address you entered, and you will be asked to click on a link in the e-mail message to confirm your subscription to Dairy-L. The e-mail typically comes in a few minutes. You have to confirm your subscription in 24 hours, and then you'll start receiving e-mail messages.
To subscribe to Dairy-L by sending an e-mail message:
1) Send an Internet electronic mail message to the following address:
listserv@listserv.umd.edu
2) Modify the following line and put it in the body of the message and NOT the subject:
SUB Dairy-L Firstname Lastname
For example, if your name is Jane Doe, then you would send a message that had the following line in the body of the message:
SUB Dairy-L Jane Doe
The listserv software will send you an acknowledgment of your subscription to Dairy-L and provide you with some key instructions for its use. There is no subscription cost.
