There are many fun outdoor water activities for children.
A small tub of water with measuring cups, a turkey baster, and other kitchen tools can provide hours of fun and teach important math skills. Adding a few drops of liquid soap will allow children to create bubbles.
"Washing babies" is another popular activity. Provide small plastic baby dolls, wash cloths, hand towels, doll clothes, and small plastic combs. Teach children how to gently wash and dry their babies.
Children love to paint. Another favorite activity is to give children a bucket of water and paint brushes. Encourage them to paint the fence or patio table. A few drops of food coloring added to the water adds interest but doesn't damage anything.
A tricycle and wagon "car wash" is also a fun activity. Adding a toy cash register with play money or clipped coupons will encourage learning as children pretend to count and give change.
Just be sure to supervise children closely any time they play with water. Sidewalks can get slippery, and a bucket of water can be a drowning hazard for infants and toddlers.
