Why should I secure my farm or ranch?

It’s easy to believe we are just as safe on our farms and ranches as we have been in the past. Since the terrorist acts of 9/11, we are all more aware of what terrorists can do. We know that they not only target big cities but could also target agriculture in the United States. And the threat is not just from foreign terrorists. Domestic activist groups protest some aspects of and developments in agriculture in our country, such as confinement livestock operations and farm chemical usage. Some of these groups protest and demonstrate in a peaceful manner, but other groups have caused physical harm to agricultural facilities and resources. Such groups could potentially threaten our nation's food supply and economy.
