Texas has produced the most cotton of any US state for many years. Georgia and Mississippi have historically been the largest cotton producing states in the Mid-South and Southeast regions. In recent years, however, acreage of grain crops such as corn has increased in the south while overall cotton acreage has declined. For an annual listing of cotton production by state as well crop reports, please visit USDA (http://www.ams.usda.gov/) or the National Cotton Council (www.cotton.org) web sites.
