We are in a drought. Should I apply Pix (mepiquat chloride) or similar plant growth regulator to my cotton?

If you are in a drought, you should not apply growth inhibiting plant growth regulators (PGR) to your cotton. It has been well documented that PGRs can reduce yields if applied during stressful periods, especially drought. Keep in mind that PGRs should be applied based on plant growth and development and not in a routine manner. Under drought conditions, it is likely plant growth is restricted. Contact your local or state cotton specialist for more information on growth inhibiting PGR use.
