A fat baby is not necessarily a healthy baby. At this age, babies should be developing muscle
tissue, not fat. If you have a very active baby, you may notice a slowing down of weight gain. That’s
because your baby is using more calories for his constant activity. The fact that your
baby may not be gaining as much weight as before doesn’t mean that he is not healthy.
Expect your baby to play at mealtime. Splashing in the cereal and dropping food on the
floor is all a part of learning. Usually this starts to happen when your baby has lost
interest in eating. If you don’t want this play to continue, take the food away from your baby
and let him play with something else.
