Most child development experts suggest waiting until a child is between 2 and 3 years old before teaching him to use the toilet. At least wait until your baby: Has a bowel movement at about the same time every day. Can tell you in words that he has to go. Can undo clothing, including snaps and zippers. Can relax and let the urine or bowel movement out.
