I am wondering about the treatment of a shoulder injury to my 12 h pony. My veterinarian says she damaged the suprascapular nerve when she collided with a tree. Should I confine her, as the shoulder keeps popping out? Is there hope of her walking properly again?

You should definitely follow your veterinarian's advice as s/he has seen the injury first hand. If you have questions, follow up with her/him. Generally, this type of injury results in sweeney (atrophy) of the shoulder muscles in the injured area. This may cause an alteration in gait as well.
