Since your primary interest is trail or pleasure riding, you are not restricted to a particular breed. You should emphasize structural correctness, and temperament, when selecting a horse for the purposes you describe. You also may want to consider a gaited horse, as many people find those breeds most comfortable to ride on the trails.
