You can't.
You must first identify if you have an active infestation of rodents or mice. You can check your apartment for activity by looking for droppings, rub marks or gnawing marks. Look around the baseboards, utility closets, doorways and windows.
If you find evidence of mice and rodents, contact your apartment manager. Your apartment manager by law must take care of this problem. If they refuse to assist you, contact your state health department for ways to help you eliminate this infestation. Do not put out rat poison, as this could do more harm than good.
There is a key located at Wildlife Inspection that asks you a series of questions and it helps you identify the problem, and will at least narrow down the possibilities. Also, it contains a link to training information on how to identify the problem.
