Probiotics are cultures or products of microorganisms that improve disease resistance or animal performance by competing with pathogenic bacteria or by having an effect on animal physiology. Some are approved for use in organic herds. Before using them or including them in your farm plan, check to see if they are OMRI-approved.

Antibiotics are prohibited in organic production. If they must be used to help a sick animal, the animal must be removed from the organic herd.
