When should I fertilize my soybean crop?

You should fertilize based on a soil test taken every two years or more frequently.

Phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) should be applied before soybeans are planted. In many states where soybean is in rotation with corn, P and K can be applied before the corn crop at amounts high enough for both the corn and soybeans.

In fields prone to erosion, spring fertilization may be the better option to minimize loss.
