SHIP is an acronym for State Health Insurance Assistance Program. SHIP is a state-run program that provides information and counseling about health insurance issues for older adults. SHIP provides free, objective, and confidential help to Medicare beneficiaries who need information and assistance with the following types of insurance: Medicare, Medicare Part D (prescription drug coverage), Medicare Advantage plans, Medicap policies, and long-term care insurance.
