An asset allocation mutual fund is a type of mutual fund that aims for good returns with relatively low risk by including three different asset classes within its portfolio: stocks, bonds, and cash equivalent assets such as money market mutual funds. Managers of an asset allocation fund may shift the investment portfolio among the asset classes at their discretion.
