The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) is a 2003 federal law that allows every American to receive one free credit report annually from each of the three major credit reporting agencies. To request the reports, call 877-322-8228 or go to www.annualcreditreport.com.
FACTA was passed to help citizens protect themselves from identity theft and ensure that their credit reports are accurate.
