In most cases, weeds are unpalatable and will not be grazed unless grass and other forages are unavailable. The best way to protect your horse from toxic weeds is to develop and use a comprehensive weed control program, which may include both herbicides and mowing. There is a list of plants and weeds toxic to horses on the following Web site: Plants Poisonous to Livestock.
