I have a patch of 70- to 75-day carrots that never got properly thinned. With about three weeks to first frost, is it worth thinning them now?

Remove the carrots you consider too small to harvest. What's left of the growing season is too short for them to gain much size, and the roots may already have been stunted due to crowding. Allow at least 2 inches between those that remain. If the remaining carrots have not be permanently stunted due to crowding, they will finish out in early spring.
