Linebreeding Question: We don't know of a template that could be used to assist breeders with linebreeding. If you are interested in linebreeding, you are probably working with one breed; thus, you might contact that breed association and talk with their director of research and education. Perhaps they can tailor a template to help you. Even a program or template that projected the inbreeding coefficient for a particular mating would be a big help. Basically the desire in linebreeding is to keep the relationship to outstanding ancestors at a high level, yet keep the inbreeding coefficient low. This is usually done by mating of first and second cousins and avoiding matings between full-sibs, half-sibs, sires to daughters, and sons to dams.
