With embryo transfer, why do you give recipient cows a prostaglandin shot 12 hours before the donors are administered the injection? Why not just give it on the same day when synchronizing the donors with the recipients?

Potential recipients are given prostaglandin one day before donors because gonadotropin-treated cows show estrus one-half to one day earlier after prostaglandin injection than untreated cattle.
