I noticed a four-year-old bull has gotten very skinny and believe he has metal in his stomach. What can we do?

Hardware disease is not uncommon for beef cattle, but something we should try to guard against because by the time it is determined what the problem is, the animal has lost a lot of weight. Treatment is placing a magnet into the reticulum where the metal is usually located. The magnet will attract the hardware and keep it from rubbing against the reticulum wall causing damage. Have your veterinarian check the animal to make sure that this is the reason for the weight loss.
