I found a spider in my garden that is black with long black legs and two yellow stripes going down its back. I am worried it might be poisonous.

It is highly improbable that your spider is poisonous. It may be a black and yellow argiope spider. This spider is harmless and in fact beneficial to the landscape where it feeds on insects. If you still need assistance in identifying the spider, contact your local county Extension office.
