Social Security benefit estimates have been available, on request, since 1988 and have been mailed automatically to workers over 25 who are not receiving benefits since 1999. Benefit estimates are sent two to three months before a worker’s birthday each year. Using the information, which includes estimated retirement income benefits at ages 62, full retirement age, and age 70, people can be more prepared to plan for the future. A list of past yearly earnings is included, and workers are encouraged to check for errors. Estimates of disability and survivors benefits are also included in the statement.
