The best control for thrush is proper sanitation, being sure that the horse's hooves are cleaned out daily and that the stall is cleaned daily with removal of the wet spots and manure. If the horse is kept in a run-out shed, the area should be cleaned weekly to help minimize the buildup of organic matter. The best products for treating thrush are something like Copper Tox; I have found Thrushbuster to be very effective. Iodine-based products, such as Povidone, are very effective as well.
