Your best source for all information related to diabetes is the American Diabetic Association: http://www.diabetes.org/food-and-fitness/food/recipes/. The association offers a variety of cookbooks. If you need help with meal planning or have any specific questions about diabetes and diet, ask your physician to refer you to a registered dietitian. These healthcare professionals are best trained to assess your nutritional status and provide you with dietary guidance that meets both your medical needs and lifestyle. With a physician's referral, you may be more likely to be reimbursed by your health insurance provider for these services. The dietitian will talk to you about medications, exercise, and diet history.
