Will zoysiagrass grow and perform well in Minnesota? Is there a similar low-maintenance grass that will grow in Minnesota?

Your question is a frequent one. To put it simply, zoysia is not the ideal low-maintenance grass in Minnesota. Zoysia is a warm-season grass and does not perform in our cool temperatures. It survives Minnesota winters, but turns brown at first frost and is very slow to green up in the spring. For more information on grasses suited for your area, contact your local Cooperative Extension office.
