Horses Home

I just completed the construction of a new barn. The stall walls are 2 x 6 pine. What can I use as a sealer/protectant on the stall walls that will be effective yet safe for the horse if he nibbles?

The inside of the stalls can be treated with a water-based coating. it is very important to allow these solvents to evaporate adequately, not only for the durability of the finish but also for the safety of any horses that might come in contact with it. Once the finish has dried, it will not pose a problem. Many people use polyurethane on the outside of the stall to provide a nice professional finish.
