Bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis) is a creeping perennial with a very extensive root system. Pulling is generally ineffective unless it is done regularly and persistently to starve the root system. Herbicides can be applied during flowering in August and September. Chemical control with 2,4-D combinations are effective within the turf, and glyphosate is an effective chemical control in non-lawn areas. Repeat applications may be needed. Increased lawn density and healthy turf will help reduce occurrence. For more information on turf management, see fact sheet Lawn Care. and for bindweed control, view Controlling bindweed
