What is involved in designing a xeriscape landscape?

Color, fragrance and variety are components of successful landscape planning and design. When designs also focus on xeriscape, the need for water and other resources will be minimized. The xeriscape planning and design process should organize landscape ideas. The process should also identify the needs of the landscape and the plants the designer wants to use. Thinking a design through will help minimize expense, mistakes and risks while planning the building of a landscape in phases. Drawing or mapping out a landscape can help family, contractors and suppliers visualize the idea. Many people design their own landscape plans. Some may choose to have a professional review their plan and add helpful ideas. Or, the plans may be totally prepared by a landscape architect or designer.
