Your tree has Ash/Lilac borers. In Northeast Colorado the flight of the adult is about the last two weeks in May and the first week in June. The Ash tree and lilac both need to be sprayed during the three week period mentioned. The Clearwing moth needs to be controled to stop laying eggs. The trunk and crotches of the tree should be wet down, this will control the moth and any eggs that would be hatching. For more information, please see the PlantTalk script "Ash borers" or contact your local Colorado State University Extension Office.
