Is Creeping Grape holly an adaptable ground cover for Colorado?

Creeping grape holly (Mahonia repens) is a Colorado native plant with evergreen, holly-like leaves and an attractive ground cover. Yellow flowers appear early in spring which are attractive to birds and can be eaten or made into jelly. Please see PlantTalk script "Creeping grape holly."
