Dry shade is a challenge for Colorado gardeners. One key to success is to incorporate adequate compost into these areas to improve the moisture retention of the soil. Lungwort (Pulmonaria) is best grown in shaded or partly shaded locations. Once established, lungwort will adapt to drier conditions, especially if the soil has adequate organic content for moisture retention.
