The goal of soil testing is to provide information on the soil properties that are present in a given location or planting area. A soil sample must reflect the overall or average fertility of a yard or field, so given analyses, interpretations and recommendations accurately represent the nutrient or mineral status of the soil. Careful soil sampling is essential for an accurate fertilizer or amendment evaluation and recommendation, which will result in a better environment for plant roots through more efficient fertilizer use, which can increase yields, reduce costs and potentially reduce environmental pollution.
