House fly elimination is accomplished through good integrated pest management (IPM) practices. The best way to control flies on a patio or in the home is to exclude them by screening. However, there are some sanitation measures that can be taken to help eliminate the problem.

Here are some tips:

  • Keep trash receptacles and any other areas that flies tend to frequent clean
  • Keep dumpsters covered, and as clean and dry as possible
  • Keep dumpsters and trash cans away from structures
  • Eliminate any fly-breeding areas, including garbage, manure piles and other animal by-products.
  • Use of fly sprays and baits is a temporary solution, and one that must be used away from food (always read and follow label directions when using any type of pesticide).
