I have a grayish mold or fungus on my grass that a friend called snow mold. I have lived in Colorado all my life and have never seen or heard of this. What can I do to get rid of it?

This is indeed snow mold, which is a fungal disease Typhula species. It is a problem whenever there are heavy snow years. Snow mold thrives in situations where snow falls on unfrozen turf and remains for a long period of time. Wherever there are snow drifts, or snow has been piled and takes a long time to melt, you commonly find snow mold. In early spring, rake the grass lightly and apply a light application of fertilizer to encourage growth.
