Leaf color can vary from variegated leaves of green and white to more yellowish green. If you have the plant in bright sunlight and are caring for it properly, it will continue to bloom and thrive indoors. If you haven't fertilized in awhile, it might be worthwhile to apply fertilizer the next time you water, if there is active new growth.
Let the soil dry out between waterings. The plant can become semidormant in winter, thus requiring less light and water and lower temperatures. Fertilize with a complete fertilizer (e.g., 10-10-10) every two months. Hoya blooms best when pot bound. New flower clusters appear from the "stumps" of old branches, so don't cut back the branches that have blossoms to soil level.
Common names for the Hoya are Hindu rope plant or wax plant. Hoya is an old-fashioned house plant that many people grow indoors because of its succulent leaves and attractive flowers. For more information (and a good picture of the flowers), visit
