The majority of plants recommended in the Colorado State University Extension fact sheets  will grow in slightly acidic soils below pH 7.0. In fact, pH 6.5 is considered the ideal pH for growth of most cultivated plants. Lists available elsewhere will narrow as soils become more acidic. These lists for acid soils can be obtained from eastern states where acid soils dominate. Our Colorado fact sheets are geared to the general Colorado soil that is alkaline, above pH 7.0.
