We do not expect the solid manure pack in most compost dairy barns to be used as feed stock for a biogas generation system. At the 2007 National Compost Dairy Barn Conference, Martin Long, President of Minnesota Mulch and Soil, outlined many different marketing opportunities for the solid manure coming out of compost dairy barns as a soil amendment after further processing and / or composting. Most of the compost dairy barn pack material is land applied as part of the land owner’s nutrient management plan.
