I am planning my veggie garden and have read about intercropping. I want to plant corn with squash, lettuce with tomatoes, and beans with potatoes. I want cauliflower but need a match. Will this work?

When interplanting/intercropping, you must consider the growing conditions required by each plant and allow for the proper amount of space and sunlight. Lettuce will not work with tomatoes, but you could plant lettuce between the cauliflower plants. By the time the cauliflowers are large enough to start forming a head, the lettuce will be picked. Squash is a traditional interplanting with corn, but again you must plant fewer of each for the proper amount of nutrients and sunlight to nourish each plant.
