White muscle disease is caused by a deficiency of the mineral selenium. This disease can cause degeneration of the skeletal and cardiac muscles of the goat. White muscle disease can be treated by administering one dosage of vitamin E and/or BoSe. The treatment can be repeated in 24 hours (Sheep and Goat Medicine, Pugh 2002).
