It is often very difficult to determine why a mare behaves differently than in the past. Some factors that may affect expression of estrus are season, light, lactation status, and other horses on the farm and their gender. Is it possible that some of these factors playing a role in your mare's behavior? We assume that your mare is no longer lactating since the foal was euthanized, but other factors may be affecting her.
As for short cycling after culture, this is not unusual. Manipulation/infusion of the reproduction tract was commonly used before prostaglandin to short cycle mares. Since it is later in the season and if you still desire to get your mare pregnant this year, you should work closely with your veterinarian or a veterinarian specializing in reproduction. If you have reproductive records for previous seasons (length of cycle, ovulation size, etc.), these will be very helpful to the veterinarian helping you get your mare pregnant.
