I don’t have time to cook every night. Are there any “convenience” items that fit into a healthy diet?

There are a lot of ways to get healthy foods into a busy diet. Fresh fruits and vegetables are very quick and easy. Make a fresh salad using different vegetables that are in season. Be cautious when dressing the fresh salad because of the calorie and fat content of some dressings. For a healthy dessert, have a fruit salad or even a piece of fruit like a banana or kiwi. For a meal that is hot, stir-fry fresh or frozen vegetables or steam in microwave steamer bags, and serve with a piece of stir-fried chicken or beef. Planning meals in advance helps with shopping for ingredients and making sure the meals are well balanced. For healthy, convenient snacks, grab a cup of low-fat yogurt or fresh carrots and celery. Be aware of which foods are better than others, and keep the healthy items stocked in your kitchen.
