With food prices so high, isn’t it cheaper to eat out than to eat at home?

In most all cases, it is cheaper to eat at home than to eat out. When you eat out, you are paying extra for the service of the establishment employees (servers, managers, cooks, cashiers, etc.), paying extra for all the little costs for the business to stay in business (rent, electricity, general bills, etc.), and also paying extra for the gas to drive to and from the restaurant.

However, when you eat at home, you pay for the food and the small cost for energy to prepare the food. To show the difference, you can make a pizza for home for one-third of the price that it would cost eating out.

Another factor to consider when you prepare food at home is that you can control the ingredients that go into the dinner, like limiting the amount of fat and sodium.

Obviously, making the meal yourself would save money in your food budget.
