No one was born knowing how to cook, so we all have to learn at some point! Start with basic, simple meals that you feel confident and excited about cooking. Purchase a good cookbook. A beginner's cookbook will tell you all the utensils and appliances you'll need and give clear instructions. Also, look for cooking classes available in your area. Often, you can take them through stores that sell cooking equipment, through community education programs (local colleges, etc.), or Internet Web sites. Find recipes you are excited about and try them. Ask family and friends for quick, healthy recipes. Adjust ingredients to suit your needs and tastes. Cooking allows for creativity, so have fun! Cooking is a trial-and-error learning process. You'll learn what does and doesn't work, and the more you cook, the better you'll become.
