Remember, to lose weight you need to burn more calories than you expend. Doing crunches will work the muscles in your stomach but may do little to burn the fat on your stomach. The best way to lose inches around your waist is to do a full body workout that includes aerobic exercise. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans (2005) recommends moderate-intensity aerobic exercise for 60 minutes most days of the week with weight training for your entire body three times a week. Increase your exercise, and/or decrease your total calorie consumption a few hundred calories every day to start seeing weight loss results.
