Hiding vegetables may be a good way to consume more vegetables, but it does not teach them about eating a variety of foods. However, combining vegetables with other foods may be a better way to get them to eat more vegetables. Children’s taste buds are a lot more sensitive than that of adults, so combining vegetables with other flavors will cut down on the bitter taste that some vegetables generally have. Children may like raw vegetables better than cooked and may like them with a low-fat dip.
Setting the example is the best thing you can do. Eating a wide variety of fruits and vegetables yourself will set the tone for healthy eating in your home.
