What does organic certification cost for a meat processor?

Cost depends on the certifier, the complexity of the products to be produced (slaughter and fabrication only vs. further processed products) and the size of the operation to some extent. A ballpark figure is $1500, including the inspector’s travel time and expenses. This is an annual fee and process, though renewing certification is a less time-consuming process.
