What is the difference between a horse and a pony?

An equine is called a "horse" or a "pony" based on how tall it is. All equines are measured in "hands." A hand is equivalent to 4 inches. An equine is considered a pony if it is 14.2 hands or shorter. If it is 14.3 hands or taller, then it is considered a horse.
