How do I find a veterinarian for my organic dairy herd?

As more livestock farmers transition to organic production, more veterinarians are learning about treatments and practices that are allowed for organic production. If you already have a veterinarian with whom you work, let them know that you intend to transition to organic and ask them if they currently work with organic producers. Let your veterinarian know who your certifier is and vice versa, so that your veterinarian can be informed of the organic livestock production standards and any changes.
For suggestions of veterinarians in your area who have experience working with organic livestock farms, consider asking organic farmers in your area (who whey use and why). In addition, your organic certifier may have suggestions as well as your milk processor (some have veterinarians on staff who can respond to member questions).
